Documentation of Eli Stine's "Computer Music", an audio-visual installation that visualizes and sonifies computer processes. Filmed at the McGuffey Art Center on June 5th, 2015. Computer Music is an audio-visual installation that visualizes and sonifies computer processes. The sonic component maps the computer's memory of the 100 most recent system processes onto the range of human hearing. The visual displays computer processes as horizontal bars of color. Older and larger processes appear as brighter colors. The installation is "performed" by the opening and closing of programs on the computer, with or without the intervention of a human user. Computer Music brings the usually "silent", backgrounded computer processes into a perceptible foreground. The work reveals the beauty of these computer processes and shows the elegance of how the computer handles its tasks.
