The electroacoustic world of this piece is tense and unpredictable, with source material consisting of everyday sounds altered beyond recognition juxtaposed with recordings of percussive and pitched instruments. Wrapped within this complex atmosphere the bassoon explores a small set of continually developing materials, never truly in control of its musical surroundings and unable or unwilling to take control of it.
