Lumina Proxima (2019)

October 10, 2019

This work is a more intimate, smaller-scale version of a collaborative piece made with architect Melissa Goldman (Lumina Arcus, 2018), which distributed six speakers within an approximately 20' x 10' x 10’ laser cut polypropylene arch-way, engulfing listeners in an immersive sonic ecosystem of artificial sound creatures that traced the curves and delineated the boundaries of the structure around them.

In this version of the work, eight speakers housed at the vertices of a custom-built wood and aluminum enclosure (made in collaboration with Kyle Hartzell) surround the head of an “audience of one” with the sounds of the original installation and a work composed especially for this enclosure (“B Side”).
