Tuuli (“wind” in Finnish) is an immersive installation designed for the 20th anniversary of Helsinki Design Week with Experience Aika. My role on this project was multi-channel sound design.
This multisensory installation installed in a hallway evokes memories and imagination, inviting visitors to linger in the space. A set of tapestries with imagery taken from the past twenty years of Helsinki Design is accompanied by a custom-made scent of wet rock and pine, and the sounds of gusty wind and shimmering wind chimes emitting from a multi-channel speaker system lining the corridor. Listen to a binaural rendering of this experience below.
Participants may also select a rock from the rock library and ring a bell to connect with the sound design. The international team behind the work consists of Concepts, Textile and Design by @lissowskamarta, Lights by @otsovartiainen, Concepts and Texts by @mika_johnson, Produced by @jkarhula, Sound Design by @eli_stine, Scent by @nikolasszacek.
